Wadiz(CEO Shin Hye-sung, www.wadiz.io) announced on the 8th that its board game “Voidfall” raised approximately 440 million won in its first Wadiz crowdfunding campaign, ranking second all-time in board game funding according to Wadiz ’s internal statistics. This project, launched by Boardpia, reached its funding goal of 100 million won within 47 minutes of its launch and concluded on October 1, having achieved 438% of its target.
"Voidfall" is a space strategy board game that incorporates four elements—exploration, expansion, development, and conquest—and is characterized by an immersive world and strategic gameplay that minimizes the role of chance. For this funding campaign, the team introduced the " Wadiz " limited edition, which includes the Korean-language base game, two expansions, miniatures, metal tokens, and more, offering fans an even greater collector’s experience.
The anticipation of fans who had been waiting for the project translated into funding immediately after the launch. Approximately 54% of the supporters who actually made payments were those who had signed up for notifications during the pre-launch period, and about 200 million won was raised within the first 24 hours after the launch. The interest from fans that had been building up even before the launch at Wadizessentially turned the creator’s first venture into a success.
Board game fans continue to participate in projects ranging from new launches to relaunched campaigns. From January through September of this year, the number of board game transactions on Wadiz increased by approximately 93% year-over-year, based on completed payments. Projects featuring Korean-language editions and limited-edition sets of popular overseas titles—such as “Agemonia,” which raised approximately 500 million won last year—have also been well-received.
There are also cases where the positive response to an initial crowdfunding campaign led to follow-up campaigns. The Korean board game “Lexio Plus” has held four follow-up campaigns since its first crowdfunding campaign in 2020, raising a cumulative total of approximately 630 million won. Wadizhas established itself as a platform where board game creators can launch their careers and launch follow-up campaigns.
Wadiz An official stated, “Voidfall is an example of how the enthusiasm of fans who had been eagerly awaiting the game turned the creator’s first venture into a success that exceeded expectations,” adding, “Going forward, we will continue to provide fans with the joy of experiencing the board games they’ve been waiting for, while giving creators opportunities to take on new challenges beyond their initial success.”
